Afghanistan Earthquake
Standing With Families Through the Worst Disaster in Years
Back-to-back earthquakes have shaken Afghanistan, beginning a wave of hardship caused by a 6.2-magnitude quake that has only deepened with five powerful aftershocks. Families already grieving the country’s worst natural disaster in years are now left in fear and mourning once again.. More than 2,200 lives lost, over 84,000 individuals have been affected and entire villages have been reduced to rubble. Mothers, fathers and children are now left scrambling for food, shelter, and urgent medical care. The International Rescue Committee warns the crisis is escalating by the hour as families cling to survival with almost nothing left.
