HDF Horizons of Humanity: A Journey of Service & Compassion in Jordan

Beyond Borders, Beyond Aid; A Mission of Hope

For February 2025, the Human Development Fund (HDF) embarked on a transformative mission to Jordan, bringing urgent aid and heartfelt connections to Palestinian and Syrian refugees. This trip was more than just distributing supplies and urgent relief, it was about witnessing resilience, restoring dignity, connection and reaffirming our commitment to humanity. Traveling through Amman, Al-Baqa’ Refugee Camp, Jerash (Gaza Camp), Al-Mafraq, and Zarqa, our team carried not just food and resources, but a message of solidarity, letting displaced families know they are not forgotten.

Al-Baqa’ Refugee Camp (Feb 9) – Nourishing Bodies & Souls

At Al-Baqa’ Refugee Camp, one of the largest Palestinian refugee settlements in Jordan, thousands of families continue to face the daily challenges of displacement, relying on humanitarian aid for survival.  On February 9, 2025, the HDF team arrived with a mission to provide essential support, connect with the community, and reinforce that they are not forgotten. The team distributed 250 food parcels and 250 hygiene kits, ensuring that families had access to the basic necessities needed to get through the coming weeks. At a local charity kitchen, the team helped serve hot meals, offering nourishment and a moment of relief for those struggling with food insecurity. But beyond meals and supplies, their time at the orphanage was one of the most meaningful parts of the day. They delivered gifts and spent time with the children, reinforcing that they are valued, cared for, and part of a wider community that stands with them. These moments go beyond immediate relief, they create a sense of hope, a reminder that they are not alone. While the challenges facing Al-Baqa’ remain, the visit showed the importance of sustained support and collective action.

“Bringing hope and support to Baqaa Camp! Together, we’re making a difference, one parcel, one meal, one smile at a time.”

Jerash (Gaza Camp) (Feb 10) – A Day of Joy & Care

At Jerash’s “Gaza Camp”, daily survival is a struggle, yet the resilience of the community remains strong. On February 10, 2025, the HDF team arrived to provide meaningful support and connect with the families who have endured generations of hardship. The team spent time with children with disabilities, distributing toys and hygiene kits, ensuring they felt seen, valued, and cared for. Food parcels and hygiene packs were delivered to Palestinian refugee families, addressing their most immediate needs and easing the burden of daily survival. One of the most impactful moments was taking orphans to a mall for new clothing, giving them not just the essentials, but the dignity of choosing something for themselves. Beyond aid, this visit was about connection, letting these families know they are not alone and that the world has not turned away.

“This journey is not just about aid; it’s about making genuine connections and affirming that they are not forgotten.”

Al-Mafraq (Feb 11) – Rebuilding Hope for Syrian Refugees

In Al-Mafraq, where thousands of Syrian refugees live in extreme conditions, the HDF team arrived with a commitment to restoring hope and opportunity. The team opened a new education center, giving displaced children access to learning and the chance to build a future beyond survival. Access to clean water, caravans, and washrooms was also provided, ensuring families had the basic necessities needed for health and dignity. At a local orphanage, they spent time engaging with the children, distributing gifts, and creating moments of joy because every child deserves care, even in the hardest circumstances. These efforts go beyond immediate relief; they are investments in dignity, education, and long-term stability.

“Education is more than a classroom, it is hope, it is freedom, it is a future. And today, we planted the seeds of opportunity.”

Zarqa (Feb 12) – Gaza Aid & Reflection

The final stop in Zarqa was a day of giving, reflection, and connection. The team helped prepare food packages for Gaza through the HDF Gaza Truck Initiative, ensuring that families in Palestine continue to receive much-needed aid. As they visited historical and religious sites, including the purported Cave of the Seven Sleepers, they were reminded that faith and perseverance sustain us, even in the hardest of times. This trip was not just about delivering aid, it was about reaffirming the commitment to humanitarian work and ensuring that the people we serve know they are not forgotten. They left Jordan carrying their stories, their strength, and a renewed dedication to keeping the light of hope alive.

“The struggles of our brothers and sisters are not just numbers, they are faces, stories, and dreams.”

The work does not end here. What we witnessed, the lives we touched, and the resilience we encountered remind us that our responsibility continues. We must share their stories so the world does not forget. We must sustain our commitment to education, clean water, shelter, and healthcare, ensuring that support reaches those who need it most. We must take action, because humanitarian work is not a one-time effort, but an ongoing duty. You can still be part of this mission, help change lives by supporting HDF’s efforts today: Stand With Jordan

May every meal served, every gift given, and every heart uplifted be a Sadaqah Jariyah for all who made this mission possible. This is not the end. This is just the beginning.
