The Problem
Treatable, but never treated.
Across Kenya and Jordan, treatable conditions — cataracts, cleft lips, hernias, gallbladder disease, chronic and orthopedic conditions — go untreated simply because surgical care never arrives, or because the cost is out of reach. In Jordan alone, out-of-pocket costs make up roughly a quarter of all healthcare spending, putting surgery far beyond what most refugee and low-income families can afford. Left untreated, these conditions worsen for years.
