Jamaica Emergency Relief
Supporting Farmers After Hurricane Melissa
Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica with a heaviness that families are still trying to understand. Children were sleeping. The elders were resting. Parents were finishing a long day of work. By morning, many woke up to flooded homes, damaged roads, and neighborhoods that did not look like the ones they had known for years.Across the hardest hit areas, daily life has been interrupted in ways that are difficult to put into words. Some are staying with relatives. Others are in crowded community spaces, sharing whatever food and supplies are available. Shops, small farms, and local businesses that once carried these communities now need time and support to recover. In moments like this, no one should have to carry the weight of rebuilding alone.
The impact of the hurricane on these communities has stayed on our hearts. It was clear that offering a single hot meal and leaving would never be enough. In response, we shaped the Roots to Resilience program, an effort that walks with families beyond the first days of crisis. Through this program we help farmers and their neighbors get back on their feet, bring fresh local produce and livestock back into circulation, and set the foundation for communities to become self-sufficient again after tragedy.

Be the Roots of Resilience
In the days after a disaster, even small acts of kindness have a profound impact. A meal shared in a shelter. A bag of food delivered to a family that has lost its kitchen. Seeds placed back into the hands of someone who wants nothing more than to work their land again.
Your giving brings calm into a moment of confusion. It helps a parent feed their children tonight. It gives an elder the reassurance that they have not been forgotten. It tells families in Jamaica that they are not facing this recovery in silence or in isolation.
Stand with the people of Jamaica as they rebuild piece by piece.
