Hygiene and Sanitation

Restoring Health and Dignity with Every Clean Space

Latrines, hygiene kits and workshops prevent disease and give women and children privacy and safety.

Without proper sanitation, diseases spread quickly in camps and poor communities. Children suffer diarrheal illnesses, women and girls have no privacy, and families lose dignity as well as health. In crises, sanitation systems are usually the first to collapse, leaving thousands exposed.

HDF’s Response:

We build latrines, distribute hygiene and maternal kits. In camps and schools, we integrate Water, Sanitation and Hygiene into every shelter and classroom so families can live and learn in dignity.

What We’ve Done So Far:

We construct latrines in drought prone areas at $2,100 per unit. Thousands of hygiene kits have been distributed in Gaza and Sudan.

“Indeed, Allah loves those who purify themselves.” (Qur’an 9:108)

Togo
WASH - Sanitation Unit

1 unit for $6,500. Access to safe sanitation is a luxury many students in remote Togo cannot afford. Young girls are forced to use bushes, exposing them to assault, snake bites, scorpion stings, disease, and loss of dignity—leading many to drop out of school. This project restores safety, health, and dignity by constructing modern toilet blocks. Each facility includes 4 units (2 for men/boys, 2 for women/girls) with large septic pits, ventilation, hand-washing stations, lockable doors, tiled floors, concrete walls, and durable roofing for long-term use—creating safe, hygienic spaces that protect students and keep girls in school.

TOGO
Menstrual Hygiene Kit

Many young girls in Togo carry an invisible burden. Without proper menstrual hygiene knowledge or support, they face shame, discrimination, and too often leave behind school benches that should carry their dreams. This project changes that by restoring confidence through reusable menstrual pads. Each pack contains 4 reusable pads in varying sizes, ensuring every girl can learn without fear and shame while staying in school with dignity.
