Fighting Poverty Starts in Togo
Togo, a small West African nation, is facing significant humanitarian challenges, including food insecurity, limited access to healthcare, and rising poverty rates. Climate change has worsened agricultural productivity, leaving many families without enough food to eat. Vulnerable groups, especially women and children, are disproportionately affected, struggling to access education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
In rural areas, poverty and lack of infrastructure make it difficult for families to meet their basic needs. The people of Togo remain hopeful and resilient, but they need urgent support to break the cycle of poverty and create a path toward a better future.
Situation On The Ground
Food Insecurity: Many families face chronic hunger due to poor agricultural circumstances, worsened by climate change and limited access to resources.
Healthcare Challenges: Rural communities have minimal access to healthcare services, leading to high rates of preventable diseases and maternal health risks.
Educational Barriers: Many young children in Togo often drop out of school due to financial hardships and lack of resources, limiting their future opportunities.
Poverty: Widespread poverty leaves families struggling to access basic necessities, such as food, clean water, and safe shelter.

Our Response
HDF is working in Togo to address critical needs and create sustainable solutions for vulnerable families:
Food Security Programs: We are distributing food supplies and supporting agricultural initiatives to improve crop yields and reduce hunger in vulnerable communities.
Healthcare Access: Delivering essential medical supplies and supporting healthcare programs focused on maternal and child health to better look after families affected by this crisis.
Education Support: We are providing school supplies and funding to look after children so they can stay in school and achieve their potential.
Community Empowerment: Supporting women-led initiatives and livelihood programs to help families gain financial independence.

Vision For All
Orphan Sponsorship
HDF safeguards orphaned children through its Orphan Care Program. Sponsor a child for $720 a year or $60 a month to provide essential care and support.
WASH - Sanitation Unit
1 unit for $6,500. Access to safe sanitation is a luxury many students in remote Togo cannot afford. Young girls are forced to use bushes, exposing them to assault, snake bites, scorpion stings, disease, and loss of dignity—leading many to drop out of school. This project restores safety, health, and dignity by constructing modern toilet blocks. Each facility includes 4 units (2 for men/boys, 2 for women/girls) with large septic pits, ventilation, hand-washing stations, lockable doors, tiled floors, concrete walls, and durable roofing for long-term use—creating safe, hygienic spaces that protect students and keep girls in school.
Menstrual Hygiene Kit
Many young girls in Togo carry an invisible burden. Without proper menstrual hygiene knowledge or support, they face shame, discrimination, and too often leave behind school benches that should carry their dreams. This project changes that by restoring confidence through reusable menstrual pads. Each pack contains 4 reusable pads in varying sizes, ensuring every girl can learn without fear and shame while staying in school with dignity.
