Classes continued as usual at Amra Camp on October 29, 2026. For five hours that day, families in the camp could also see a doctor and collect prescribed medicines without charge. Human Development Fund (HDF) set up two clinics and a pharmacy at the camp in Jordan’s Mafraq Governorate.
The clinics were open to all of the camp’s roughly 250 residents. Doctors examined 87 patients and referred 32 of them for further care.
From registration to the pharmacy
HDF’s Education Department provided the space and coordinated arrangements on site. From 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the health team registered patients, gave each person a number and assessed who needed to see a doctor most urgently.
During each consultation, the doctor recorded the diagnosis, any medicines the patient needed and the plan for follow-up. Patients could take their prescriptions straight to the camp pharmacy, where staff had stocked medicines ahead of the visit. For people who needed treatment beyond what the clinics could provide, including surgery, the team arranged referrals.

Health education for women and children
While consultations continued, 40 women attended a breast cancer awareness session led by Fatima Al-Omari, the Jordan Breast Cancer Program’s coordinator in Mafraq. Her talk was part of the national October awareness campaign.

Later that afternoon, HDF’s water, sanitation and hygiene team met with 60 children for a lesson on hygiene and preventing infection. Each child took home a gift and a brochure with the same messages to revisit or share with family.
