For children displaced by crisis in Gaza, a classroom can restore part of what conflict interrupts: a daily rhythm of lessons, questions, friendships and plans for the future.
Human Development Fund (HDF) has opened its first school in Gaza through Seeds of Hope. The Seeds of Hope Gaza school gives displaced children a place to continue their education while receiving support for academic and emotional growth.
What the Seeds of Hope Gaza school provides
The school combines dedicated teachers, well-equipped learning facilities and a curriculum designed around the needs of the whole child. Students receive instruction in STEM subjects and literacy alongside cultural enrichment.
Learning is only one part of the support. Counseling, extracurricular activities and essential resources help students participate academically and socially. Together, these services create an environment where children can learn while receiving care for their emotional development.
Why a classroom matters
During a crisis, education is about more than keeping up with lessons. A regular place to learn can bring structure to a child’s day. It offers time with teachers and classmates and creates space for curiosity, creativity and connection.
That combination of academic and emotional support is central to Seeds of Hope. The aim is to nurture each child’s potential without allowing displacement to define the limits of their education.
Supporters made this school possible
HDF’s first school in Gaza became possible through the commitment of donors and partners. Their support helped turn an educational plan into classrooms, teaching and services for children who had faced serious barriers to learning.
Every contribution became part of something tangible: a lesson taught, a resource provided and a child given another opportunity to continue learning.
The work continues
This school is the beginning of HDF’s wider plans for Seeds of Hope. HDF intends to open additional schools, strengthen teacher training and develop educational tools for Gaza and other places where children face barriers to education.
The first school is an important milestone. The longer responsibility is to keep improving how children are taught and supported as their circumstances change.

Opening a school does not remove the hardship children in Gaza face. It does, however, give them a place to learn, receive support and keep building toward a future beyond the present crisis.
