In September 2024, Human Development Fund (HDF) earned the Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency. For donors, the value of this recognition was straightforward: HDF had made a fuller set of information about its work available through a public Candid profile.
Alhamdulillah, we were grateful to reach Candid’s highest disclosure level. Transparency deserves a plain explanation, however, because a seal is most useful when supporters understand what it does and does not mean.
What the Candid Platinum Seal represented
Candid awards Seals of Transparency to nonprofits that complete specific sections of their profiles. For the 2024 Platinum Seal, organizations had to share information about their mission, programs, finances, leadership, goals, strategies and recent impact metrics.
Earning the Seal meant HDF had supplied the information Candid required at that level. It was not a charity ranking, an independent audit or an endorsement of HDF’s program effectiveness. Candid’s seals are also dated and require renewal, so this article records HDF’s 2024 achievement rather than making a claim about its current Seal status.
What donors can review
HDF’s public Candid profile gives supporters a place to examine:
- Mission and program information
- Financial information
- Leadership and governance details
- Goals and strategies
- Impact metrics reported by HDF
Candid describes profile information as self-reported by the organization. The profile can support a donor’s research and questions, but it does not replace them.
Transparency is a continuing responsibility
For supporters entrusting Zakat and Sadaqah, clarity matters. A Seal does not itself prove that every contribution was used effectively. HDF’s responsibility is to keep its records current, report honestly and remain open to questions about how entrusted funds support its work.
The Qur’an reminds us: “And whatever you spend of good – it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:272). That reminder deepens our duty to treat each contribution with care.
The 2024 Seal marked progress, not the end of the work. Thank you for asking questions, reviewing the information available and trusting HDF to keep improving how it reports.
