Just like you, we’ve watched outside forces push Gaza into one of the worst humanitarian crises of our time over these past few months. With heavy hearts, we recognize that more than 61,000 Palestinians, including women, children and elders have tragically lost their lives since October 2023. Nearly 1.9 million people, approximately 90% of Gaza’s population, have become displaced. Severe food insecurity now threatens over 90% of the population and famine conditions have already emerged, particularly in northern Gaza. Acute malnutrition is rising at an alarming rate, disproportionately impacting children under five, overwhelming hospitals and forcing families to survive on a single poor meal each day or sometimes none at all.
Despite these overwhelming circumstances, the Human Development Fund (HDF) remains unwavering in its dedication and response. In July, through our “One Ummah, One Plate” initiative, we served over 168,000 hot meals, prepared daily by local teams, specifically targeting the most vulnerable: orphans, widows, elders and displaced families. Additionally, we distributed 3,000 food parcels, providing essential nourishment to more than 16,000 individuals across Gaza. Currently, 75 additional food parcels, designed to feed approximately 5,250 people, are ready and awaiting imminent distribution as border conditions permit, insha’Allah.

A Breakthrough in Aid Delivery
Alhamdulillah, shortly after this report was prepared, HDF successfully coordinated the entry of two aid trucks into Gaza through our trusted local teams. This aid truck wasn’t just another delivery. It was packed with care by donors in Jordan, many of whom came to visit HDF’s broader humanitarian work in the region. The other was prepared during Imam Omar Suleiman’s recent mission trip with us, where he personally joined in loading vital supplies. This delivery reached families who have endured months of unimaginable hardship. It carried more than food and water. It carried dignity, hope and the unwavering message that the Ummah has not forgotten Gaza.
Under ongoing siege conditions, HDF continues bulk-purchasing food through trusted local traders, storing essential supplies securely and rapidly distributing aid whenever possible. Our teams document each step, ensuring transparency and allowing supporters to witness the direct impact of their contributions. Getting aid into Gaza is not just logistically complex, it’s financially heavy. In some areas, commercial corridors remain open, offering access to essentials like rice, vegetables and water. But these supplies come at a staggering cost that are far above normal market prices. Despite this, HDF continues to procure these urgently needed items. Why? Because there are lives depending on it on the other side. This is not about affordability. It’s about responsibility. When basic survival is at stake, we believe in showing up, no matter the cost.
“We are deeply committed to standing with Gaza during this historic crisis. As the blockade continues and starvation spreads, we will do everything possible to provide sustenance, dignity and compassion to those in need“- stated HDF CEO, Shaykh Abdirahman Kariye.
With profound sorrow, we honor the memories of 11 of our beneficiaries who were recently martyred in Gaza due to continuous bombardment.
May Allah ﷻ grant Mohammed Fadel Omar Abu Shahla, Ahmed Fouad Ismail Rayan, Yousef Ahmed Fouad Rayan, Hadeel Abed Rabah Ahmed Abu Sa’da, Nourseen Ihab Salah Abu Sa’da, Suhail Omar Mohammed Abu Sa’da, Mohammed Ali Khamis Al-Habl, Hassan Ali Othman Moqadad, Ahmed Ali Othman Moqadad, Sila Mahmoud Atef Shahada and Mohannad Ismail Mahmoud Ahmed the highest ranks of Jannah and ease the suffering of their families.
